The ASEAN Women’s Circle (AWC) organised an ASEAN traditionalculinary festival at the ASEAN Secretariat headquarters in Jakarta onJune 12.
The Festival brought out the bests of traditionaldishes from the 10 ASEAN member states and those from the bloc’spartners, including Japan, the Republic of Korea, the India, NewZealand, and China.
At the event, AWC Chairwoman Ugi Pramonosaid the annual festival helps forge links and mutual understandingbetween ASEAN women in particular and the people in the region ingeneral.
In 2015, AWC will work to organise more activitieswith the aim to promote women’s role in ASEAN development process andregional integration, contributing to the successful establishment ofASEAN community at the end of this year.
Also on the occasion, AWC held a charity fair to raise fund for street children in Jakarta.
The AWC, established in 1975, operates as a social organisation andaims to enhance friendship and solidarity, as well as boost cooperationin the region.-VNA
