ASEAN Festival in Canada promotes exchanges, connectivity

– Embassies of Brunei,Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam in Canadajointly held the ASEAN Festival at the Vincent Massey Park in Ottawa on August18.

Hundreds of staff members from the ASEANcountries’ representative agencies in Canada participated in the annual event.

Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Canada andHigh Commissioner of Brunei Pengiran Haji Ahmad said the festival was designedto honour the spiritual values of ASEAN and increase exchanges and connectivitybetween the bloc and Canada.

A range of sports and games were held for bothchildren and adults, promoting team spirit.

Festival goers could also taste traditionaldishes from the ASEAN member states.

Founded in 1967, the 10-member ASEAN groupsBrunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines,Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.-VNA
