Jakarta (VNA) – The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China and UN Development Programme (UNDP) introduceda joint report on 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) financing in ASEANduring a meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, on November 17. The report gives an evaluation on financial growth in 10 ASEANcountries basing on a research by the ASEAN and China. It pointed out that thebloc as well as each ASEAN member country should have their own development goalsand target common sustainable development. The combination of major financial resources is significant in helpingASEAN countries define priorities and effective development models, said thereport which is entitled "ASEAN-China-UNDP Report on Financing the SDGs inASEAN: Strengthening Integrated National Financing Frameworks to Deliver the2030 Agenda”. Haoliang Xu, UNDP Director for Asia-Pacific Region, held that inorder to mobilise resources, regional countries should call for the engagementof international investors and monetary organisations, as well as theState-owned and private sectors. Domestic investment should account for about22-40 percent of the total investment, he said. Over the past years, UNDP has launched many projects in ASEANand China on different areas such as economy, culture, society and environmentalprotection with an aim of achieving sustainable growth. Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency’s correspondent in Jakarta, ASEANDeputy Secretary-General Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee highlighted the importanceof sustainable development to ASEAN. The association has integrated the implementation of UN SDGs intoits Vision 2025, with priority give to education-training, infrastructuredevelopment and promotion of strong products of each member country, he said.-VNA
