Artist celebrates Vietnam-Canada ties

The book by Canadian author Yann Martel tells the story of 16-year-oldPi's long journey on a small boat in the Pacific Ocean with anunexpected companion, a Bengal tiger.

Launched in April bythe Canadian Embassy and Nha Nam Culture and Communication JSC to markthe World Book Day and celebrate 40 years of Canada-Vietnam diplomaticrelations, the competition was open to people aged 15 to 25.

The organising board received many entries in various genres such asdrawing, painting, photography, graphic design and video.

"Thisaward-winning novel sparked the creativity of many Vietnamese youngpeople," said Canadian Ambassador Deborah Chatsis. "We're so happy thatthe competition helped readers have a better understanding of the beautyand diversity of Canada ."

Winner Trang said she read thebook as a student, but was really moved by the Oscar-winning filmdirected by Ang Lee. Inspired by the film, she tried to express the hopeof life through her work.-VNA

Exhibition features President Ho Chi Minh as founder of Vietnam’s r𓃲evolutionary press
