Art project to fund girls’ education in Asia

An art photography project, I Femme, has been launched to help poor girls access education and to fund schools for poor children in Vietnam, India and Nepal.

Hanoi (VNA) - An art photography project, I Femme, has been launchedto help poor girls access education and to fund schools for poor children in Vietnam,India and Nepal.

Theproject was initiated by Vietnamese photographer Viet Ha Tran and Ukrainianfashion brand Simplifi’s co-founder Tetyana Kretova.

Theteam has raised 10,885 EUR (12,929 USD) via the GoFundMe website within onemonth of launching the project. They aim to raise 100,000 EUR (114,338 USD) inthe first year.

Drivenby the passion to change the world, coupled with a strong interest in art andfashion, the initiative, which aims to empower women, is slated to launch inlate 2017 in cities such as Madrid, Moscow, London, Paris and Tokyo.

Thephotographs that Ha will create for I Femme will paint thepicture of modern, independent, liberal, successful women of the 21st centurywho are the owners of their own destiny as they strive to retain their culturalidentity.

Theselimited edition photographs, to be sold through exhibitions, auctions, andcultural events that will take place around the world, can be acquired by artcollectors, galleries, museums and advocates of charity projects.

Themoney from the artwork sales will be donated directly to the non-profitorganisation Room to Read, which helps build schools for poor children in Asiandeveloping countries and provides scholarships for girls with no access toeducation.

Roomto Read, which is headquartered in San Francisco, US, is a leading non-profitfocused on girls’ education and children’s literacy in Asia and Africa. TheFounders of I Femme believe that Room to Read’s vision bestfits the concept of their project.

Hais a Hanoi-born and Madrid-based fine art photographer known for heremotionally intense, compelling photographs of women. Her art emphasisesfantasy and imagination as a source of aesthetic experience. Her work hasappeared in renowned magazines, including Vogue Italia, Vanity Fair France, TheTimes of India, as well as at Saatchi Gallery London, and has been auctioned byChristie’s Hong Kong for charity.
