Around 7,000 foreigners rescued from scam call centres in Myanmar

A total of some 7,000 foreign nationals have been rescued from call-centre scam gangs in Myanmar where they had been forced to work since last month, according to Thai security sources.

Hanoi (VNA) - A total of some 7,000 foreign nationals have been rescued from call-centre scam gangs in Myanmar where they had been forced to work since last month, according to Thai security sources.

They were rescued and taken into protective custody by two Myanmar ethnic armed forces that conducted rescue operations in areas under their control near Thailand.

The ethnic forces are calling for Thailand and other countries whose citizens are among the rescued workers to speed up repatriation.
