Hanoi (VNA) –
An aquatic producttrade fair opened in Hanoi on October 8 with a view to developing theaquaculture sector in a sustainable and harmonious manner.

The event features nearly 100 pavilions set upby organisations and agencies from provincial and municipal departments ofagriculture and rural development, trade promotion and industrial encouragementcentres as well as companies and cooperatives engaging in aquatic processing.

It aims to boost sales of aquatic products inthe domestic market and increase global competitiveness in addition to buildingVietnamese seafood brand of safety, sustainable development, and high quality.

According to Dao Van Ho, director of the agriculturetrade promotion centre, the total export turnover of the seafood sector in 2018reached 8.8 billion USD, a year-on-year rise of 5.8 percent.

In the first nine months of 2019, Vietnamexported 6.23 billion USD worth of aquatic products, he added.

The trade fair will run until October 13./.
