Apparel sector enjoys over 11 percent export growth in Q1

Vietnam earned 6.84 billion USD from garment and textile exports in the first quarter of this year, a rise of 11.2 percent year on year, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS).

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam earned6.84 billion USD from garment and textile exports in the first quarter of thisyear, a rise of 11.2 percent year on year, according to the Vietnam Textile andApparel Association (VITAS).

Currently, Vietnamese garment andtextile products have been available in 40 countries and territories over theworld, with major markets including the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Chinaand the EU.

The VITAS urged enterprises to optimizethe capacity of their equipment to reduce production costs and seek orders for high-qualityproducts.

This year, Vietnam’s textile andapparel sector targets a 7 percent growth over 2016, with total export earningsof over 30 billion USD. - VNA
