APEC SOM 1 continues with series of meetings

– A series of meetingstook place in Nha Trang city in the central province of Khanh Hoa on February25 within the framework of the first APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM 1).

They included the meetings of the Tourism WorkingGroup (TWG), Electronic Commerce Steering Group (ECSG), Committee on Trade andInvestment (CTI), Competition Policy and Law Group (CPLG), Oceans and FisheriesWorking Group (OFWG) and Market Access Group (MAG).

A workshop on the use of international tools tostrengthen the enforcement of contracts in finance supply chain for globalbusinesses was also held by the Economic Committee (EC).

Meanwhile, the three-day APEC Policy Partnership onFood Security (PPFS) Meeting, chaired by the Ministry of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment, kicked off on the same day.

Scheduled to run from February 18 to March 3, the APECSOM1 and related meetings comprises 56 meetings, workshops and dialogues of 38APEC committees and working groups.

Under the theme of “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering aShared Future,” delegates are expected to discuss and reach agreement onpriorities and their contents for the 2017 APEC Year on promoting sustainable,innovative and inclusive growth, regional economic connectivity, thecompetitiveness of small-and medium-sized enterprises and microenterprises inthe digital era, food security, and climate change adaptation.-VNA
