Da Nang (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quangreceived State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi in the central city of DaNang on November 9 on the sidelines of the ongoing APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.

The President congratulated Myanmar on recent socio-economicprogress with a belief in the country’s success in its national reconciliation processand position improvement in the regional and global stages.

He took note of the new development in Vietnam – Myanmarties, particularly after the state visit made by General Secretary Nguyen PhuTrong to Myanmar late August.

He said during the visit, bilateral relations were lifted tocomprehensive cooperative partnership and several agreements were signed.

Aung San Suu Kyi stated Myanmar pays heed to the developmentof comprehensive cooperative partnership with Vietnam and is committed tocreating favourable conditions for Vietnamese investors in Myanmar.

Both sides agreed to increase people-to-people exchanges andexchange visits among the two countries’ delegations at all levels.

Agreements were also reached in facilitating the formationof cooperation mechanisms in agro-forestry-fishery and transport, and insupporting each other at regional and international forums, particularly insub-regional cooperation mechanisms such as the ASEAN, Ayeyawady-ChaoPhraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), andCambodia-Laos-Vietnam-Myanmar (CLMV) and East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC).-VNA
