The 30th ASEAN-China Senior Officials’ Consultation took place in Jakarta on May 10, with the sides reaffirming commitments to enhancing their comprehensive strategic partnership (CSP).

President Joko Widdo of Indonesia, the chair of the ASEAN in 2023, on July 14 affirmed that ASEAN is committed to strengthening the unity and solidity as well as centrality in the regional grouping to guard peace and stability in the region.

One of the priorities of Indonesia, as 2023 ASEAN Chair, is to promote the initiatives of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) through concrete and inclusive development cooperation, said Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa.

Peace, trust and respect are the values that Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have shared over the past 50 years, stated Japanese Ambassador to ASEAN Kiya Masahiko.

Japan will take the lead in supporting the mainstreaming of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP), affirmed Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa in a video message sent to the Commemorative Symposium for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation held in Indonesia on February 13.

The inaugural ASEAN-UK Senior Officials’ Meeting (AUKSOM) was held in London on July 6, the first official engagement of both sides’ Senior Officials since ASEAN and the UK established full dialogue partnership in August, 2021.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son urged India to continue its prompt and stable vaccine supply for ASEAN member states at the ASEAN – India foreign ministers’ meeting held on August 4 as part of the 54th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM-54) and related meetings.
