Hanoi (VNA) – The second Alma Hanoi Int’l Festival and Competition willtake place at the Vietnam National Academy of Music from October 26-28,according to guitarist Vu Hien, head of the organising board.

This is the large guitar festival which will gather famous artists at home andabroad as well as outstanding contestants from Vietnam, Thailand, Canada andthe Netherlands, he said.

The event aims to honour classical music and seek new guitar talents, Hiensaid, adding it also helps improve the position of the guitar community inHanoi and promote the guitar playing movement in the capital city and the wholecountry.

During the three-day festival, music lovers will have a chance to enjoyperformances by famous domestic and foreign guitarists as well as contemplate hi-endguitars in the world.

Among the performers will be meritorious artist Dao Tuyet Trinh and guitaristsVu Hien, Chau Dang Khoa, Tran An and Le Thu from Vietnam; Sumomi Kohno fromJapan; Pierre Bibault from France; and Lorenzo Bernadi from Italy.

Contestants to the competition will choose any work to play in a time of 6-10minutes in the qualifying round. Then the organising board will select excellentperformances to the final round.

The award ceremony will take place on October 28 evening. Organisers will grantfirst, second and third prizes to those with the best performances. The highestaward will be an Alma guitar worth 5,500 USD.

The first Alma Hanoi International Festival and Competition was held in October2017 with the participation of 30 domestic and foreign artists.-VNA
