Hanoi (VNA) - The 14th plenum of the 12th-tenure PartyCentral Committee wrapped up in Hanoi on December 18 after nearly five days ofworking, with all agenda items completed.

According to a communiqué released by the Party Central Committee, thecommittee discussed and adopted draft reports to be presented at the 13thNational Party Congress, including a political report, a report evaluating theimplementation of the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy and thebuilding of the 2021-2030 socio-economic development strategy, and a report reviewingthe realisation of socio-economic tasks during the 2016-2020 period andorientations and tasks for 2021-2025.

The other reports focused on Party building and the execution of Party statutesand the leadership and management of the Party Central Committee during the 12thtenure, while the implementation of the working regulations of the PartyCentral Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat during the tenure werealso debated.

Delegates looked at personnel tasks and the organisation of the 13th NationalParty Congress, among others.

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong presided over theopening and closing sessions of the plenum, where he delivered remarks.

Delegates devoted much time to scrutinising the documents presented andcontributed valuable opinions, especially on contentious contents, thecommuniqué said.

They shared a similar view on the significance of personnel preparations forthe Politburo and the Secretariat (13th tenure), saying it is associated withthe success of the 13th National Party Congress and national development in thenew period.

They voted to introduce personnel to the Politburo and the Secretariat.

The committee deliberated draft working and election regulations of the 13thNational Party Congress in line with Party statutes as well as its principlesand regulations.

It decided to expel Nguyen Duc Chung, a member of the Party Central Committee,former Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee (2015-2020 tenure), and formerSecretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee, and former Chairman of theHanoi People’s Committee (2016-2021), from the Party for serious violations ofregulations.

The committee called on the entire Party, people, and army to strengthensolidarity and unity, carry forward the achievements posted in 2020, and makegreater efforts to overcome the challenges and difficulties to firmly safeguardnational independence, territorial sovereignty and security, and completetargets and tasks set for 2020 as well as the 12th tenure, while preparing for andorganising successfully the 13th National Party Congress./.
