Airbus to cooperate with Vietnam in space industry development
Airbus will work with Vietnam to develop the country’s space industry following a letter of intent inked recently between the company and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Hanoi (VNA) - Airbus will workwith Vietnam to develop the country’s space industry following a letter ofintent inked recently between the company and the Ministry of Science andTechnology.
Potential areas of bilateral collaborationincluded the exchange of information on issues related to Earth observation,organising and participating in scientific and technological events, andresearch into satellite technology, according to Airbus.
In 2010, Airbus won a contract to develop,manufacture and launch Vietnam’s first Earth observation satellite. TheVNREDSat-1 was successfully launched in May 2013, enabling the country tobetter monitor and study the effects of climate change, predict and takemeasures to prevent natural disasters, and optimise the management of itsnatural resources.
The European manufacturer is alsodeveloping its industrial presence in the country, where several local firmssupply aerostructures and components across the Airbus civil aircraft productline. This helps generate full-time employment for 550 highly skilledVietnamese workers.
In education, the company is supporting thedevelopment of two new degree programmes at the University of Science andTechnology of Hanoi, helping Vietnam meet its growing requirements for aerospaceengineers and professionals.-VNA
The Vietnam National Satellite Centre has recorded significant progress in developing human resources and operating satellite and space infrastructure projects.
