Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.
- The term “bamboo diplomacy” was first mentioned by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during the first-ever National Conference on Foreign Affairs, held in Hanoi on December 14, 2021. It sums up and symbolises the foreign policy the Communist Party of Vietnam has been implementing, that has made important contributions to the country's overall development achievements.
The attainment of Vietnam's diplomatic affairs in recent years are attributable to the efforts of Party, entire people and entire army, of which the most important and decisive factor is the direct and comprehensive leadership of the Party, headed by General Secretary Trong.
- The Indian parliament on July 22 held a moment of silence before beginning its monsoon session to commemorate General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, who passed away on July 19.
In their messages of condolences at the event, Chairman of the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) Jagdeep Dhankhar and Speaker of the Lower House (Lok Sabha) Om Birla stated that the General Secretary was respected by the Vietnamese people from all walks of life during his 13 years of Party leadership. - Upon hearing of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, leaders of communist and left-wing parties in many countries have expressed profound condolences and highlighted his wisdom, strategic vision, and contributions to the country's development.
Talking to the Vietnam News Agency in New Delhi, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Doraisamy Raja affirmed that this is a great loss to not only the Vietnamese people and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) but also the entire international community. Read full story
- The Presidential Office on July 23 continued to announce the State President’s order to promulgate five more laws passed by the 15th National Assembly at its recent 7th session.
They are the Capital Law (revised); the Law on amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Asset Auctions; the Law on amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Land, the Law on Housing, the Law on Real Estate Business and the Law on Credit Institutions; the Law on Roads, and the revised Law on Social Insurance. - A ceremony honouring revolution contributors was held in Hanoi on July 23 in the lead-up to the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27), in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Co-organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs; the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, Nhan dan (People) newspaper and the municipal People’s Committee, the event gathered 400 veterans and families of fallen heroes. Read full story
- A delegation of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) led by Deputy General Director Doan Thi Tuyet Nhung attended the second Shusha Global Media Forum in Shusha city, Azerbaijan on July 20-22.
Themed “Unmasking False Narratives: Confronting Disinformation,” the forum attracted the participation of over 150 delegates from around 50 countries, including news agencies of 30 countries, three international organisations, 82 global and regional media entities. Read full story
- Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held phone talks with his Uzbekistani counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov on July 22 afternoon.
At the talks, Saidov conveyed the deep condolences of Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), State President To Lam, the Government, and the people of Vietnam, as well as to the family of General Secretary Nguyen PhuTrong over the passing of the Party leader. Dr. Nguyen Khac Giang, Visiting Fellow at the Vietnam Studies Programme of the Singapore-based ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, said despite that foundation, had Vietnam embarked on the independent construction of a semiconductor system 45 years ago, it would have faced significant challenges in penetrating into a demanding and highly competitive new market. - Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO Ha Kim Ngoc is attending the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO in New Delhi from July 21-31.
