- Vietnam’s revolutionary stages over the past 80 years have seen great contributions of intellectuals, artists, and scientists, who are brave in combat, persistent in creativity, vanguard in innovation and dedicated in national construction, Party General Secretary To Lam said.
The Party chief made the remarks while addressing a gathering of 80 distinguished intellectuals, artists, and scientists in Hanoi on August 6, ahead of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2). - Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong met with President of the Egyptian Senate Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq in Cairo on August 6, as part of his state visit to the African country.
Welcoming the Vietnamese leader, Abdel-Razeq emphasised that the visit comes at a very timely moment, marking the beginning of a new phase in the development of bilateral relations across all fields, promising a brighter future for both countries and their people. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested ministries, agencies, and localities to urgently address the severe aftermath of recent natural disasters, restore normal life for affected communities, and ensure that students are ready for the new academic year.
In an document issued on August 5, the PM emphasised the need to stablise living conditions for people hit by floods, landslides, and flash floods in late July and early August in northern and north-central provinces, especially Dien Bien, Son La, and Nghe An which suffered some of the worst damage. - State President Luong Cuong's state visit to the Republic of Angola from August 6 – 9 is expected to further foster bilateral cooperation and open up a new stage of development in Vietnam – Angola relations.

- Vietnam pulled in 24.09 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first seven months of 2025, a 27.3% surge year-on-year, driven by strong investor confidence, the Ministry of Finance’s National Statistics Office (NSO) reported on August 6.
The FDI inflows, covering newly-registered and adjusted capital, and capital contribution through share purchases, included 10.03 billion USD registered for 2,254 new projects. The figures presented a year-on-year rise of 15.2% in projects, though registered capital dropped 11.1%, showing that investors have continued to flock to Vietnam but with smaller deals. - Vietnam’s export earnings grew by 14.8% to 262.44 billion USD in the first seven months of this year, while its import turnover rose by 17.9% to 252.26 billion USD, resulting in a trade surplus of 10.18 billion USD, the National Statistics Office (NSO) reported on August 6.
The country's total import-export turnover reached 514.7 billion USD in the period, marking an increase of 16.3% year-on-year. Read full story

- Vietnam recorded 12.2 million international tourist arrivals between January and July, up 22.5% year-on-year, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).
Air travel remained the dominant entry mode, accounting for 10.4 million arrivals, or 85.1% of the total, marking a 23.8% rise from the same period last year. Land border arrivals reached 1.6 million, making up 13.4% and rising 15.8%, while 183,900 visitors entered via sea, representing 1.5% with an increase of 11.1%./. Read full story
