AFF U22 Championship: Vietnam to play Indonesia in semi-finals

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam will face Indonesia in the semi-finals of theongoing ASEAN Football Federation(AFF) U22 Youth Championship.

The semi-finals of the tournament will be heldon February 24.

Indonesia beat host Cambodia 2-0 in the last round of matches ofGroup B on February 22, with goals scored in the 19th and 83rd minutes. As Malaysia defeated Myanmar 1-0 in the concurrent match, Indonesia won thefinal spot to the semi-finals with total five points.

Previously, aside from Cambodiawhich had already secured the group’s top position, the remaining teams viedfor a berth in the semi-finals. Indonesia had two points, while Malaysia andMyanmar earned just one point each.

In Group A, Vietnam ranked first after agoalless draw with Thailand on February 21.

Both of the teams had booked their spots in thesemi-finals of the regional competition by winning against the Philippines andTimor-Leste.

Thailand will play Cambodia, who tops Group B,in the round. –VNA
