AFC announces list of Vietnam team to play in U23 Asian Cup final
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has released a list of 23 members in the Vietnamese team to compete at the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup finals, which will take place in Uzbekistan from June 1 to 19.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)has released a list of 23 members in the Vietnamese team to compete at the 2022AFC U23 Asian Cup finals, which will take place in Uzbekistan from June 1 to 19.
The list saw the elimination of Tran Van Cong and Vu MinhHieu compared to the one announced earlier by head coach Gong Oh-kyun of thesquad. Meanwhile, all 14 key players who won the goal medal at the recentSEA Games 31 hosted by Vietnam are kept on the list. They include goalkeeper Van Toan, defendersViet Anh and Thanh Binh, midfielder Ly Cong Hoang Anh, and strikers Nguyen VanTung and Nham Manh Dung.
Freshly completing their short training session in the UnitedArab Emirates (UAE), the U23 team of Vietnam is now in Uzbekistan for thefinals.
According to the draw results, Vietnam is in Group C withthe defending champion of the Republic of Korea (RoK), Thailand and Malaysia.The squad will play the first match against Thailand on June 2, then meet theRoK on June 5 and Malaysia on June 8./.
The women’s football team of Vietnam will compete in the 2022 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup with strong determination and effort, head coach Mai Duc Chung said on January 20.
Vietnam have been drawn in Group C at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Asian Championship final round following the draw results in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on February 17 (Hanoi time).
Vietnam beat Myanmar 4-1 in a penalty shootout on April 10 to rank third in the 2022 AFF Futsal Championship and won the last berth for Southeast Asia to attend the 2022 AFC Asian Futsal Cup.
Head coach Gong Oh-kyun has announced a list of 25 football players to compete at the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup final, which will take place in Uzbekistan from June 1 to 19.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has granted Vietnam hosting rights for the two championships, including the Asian women’s solo category, which debuts this year as an officially recognised event.

These are impressive achievements, not only showing the efforts and prowess of Vietnamese paddlers but also serving as proof of the sports sector’s strategic and systematic investment.
