Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Huehas recently signed a decision recognising Nam Dan district, the centralprovince of Nghe An, and Duy Tien district, the northern province of Ha Nam asnew-style rural areas.

Nam Dan now records all of its 23 communes meeting new ruraldevelopment criteria which have been recognised by the provincial People’sCommittee.

Average income per capita in the district hit 36 million VND(1,600 USD) in 2017, up 18.5 million VND compared to 2010. The rate of poorhouseholds in communes and the district was below 5 percent and 3.16 percent,respectively, down 11.44 percent from 2010.

All 16 communes in Duy Tien district were also recognised asnew-style rural areas. Average income per capital in the locality was 38million VND while the rate of poor households in the district was 1.41 percent.

The national target programme on building new-style ruralareas sets 20 criteria on socio-economic development, politics, defence, aimingto develop rural regions.

The list of criteria includes the development ofinfrastructure, the improvement of production capacity, environmentalprotection and the promotion of cultural values.-VNA
