Acting President receives foreign ambassadors

Hanoi (VNA) - Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan hosted receptions in Hanoi on May 15 for ambassadors of Armenia, New Zealand, Türkiye and Peru who came to present their credentials.

Meeting Ambassador of Armenia Suren Baghdasaryan, Xuan said Vietnam always appreciates the support from people of the former Soviet Union, including Armenia, to Vietnam's past struggle for national independence and reunification.

Noting developments in the bilateral diplomatic, economic and investment ties, the Acting President said ample room remains for Vietnam and Armenia to step up their cooperation, and suggested them optimise existing collaboration mechanisms while reaching new ones to boost their economic, trade and investment links.

The two countries also have potential for cooperation in national defence, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange, among other fields, she continued. Xuan asked the ambassador to convey her regards to the President of Armenia, saying she wishes to welcome him in Vietnam at an appropriate time.

For his part, Baghdasaryan emphasised Armenian people’s special sentiments towards Vietnam, and shared his view that the two countries boast potential for collaboration in economy, trade, science-technology and education.

At the reception for New Zealand Ambassador Caroline Rachel Beresford, Xuan affirmed the importance Vietnam attaches to cooperation with New Zealand and highlighted the progress in the bilateral ties in trade, tourism and education.

😼 She suggested the two countries actively implement their existing cooperation mechanisms, and foster collaboration in the areas where both have strengths and demand.

Beresford told the Acting President that the New Zealand Government prioritises enhancing cooperation with Vietnam, saying the two countries have large room to strengthen their collaboration in the time ahead, especially in agriculture, education, climate change response and digital economy.

Receiving Turkish Ambassador Korhan Kemik, Xuan stressed that Türkiye is Vietnam's second largest export market in West Asia and biggest investor in the Middle East.

The Acting President expressed her wish to soon welcome the President of Türkiye in Vietnam in order to further promote the bilateral cooperation.

Kemik said Vietnam is an important partner of Türkiye in Southeast Asia, with the bilateral trade turnover increasing steadily over the years.

﷽ Both shared a hope that the two countries will sign new cooperation documents to complete the legal framework for the bilateral collaboration in various spheres.

At the meeting with Ambassador of Peru Patricia Yolanda Raez Porto Carrrero, the Acting President said Vietnam always values its friendship and cooperation with Peru, and suggested the two countries forge cooperation in politics-diplomacy, economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange.
