Jakarta (VNA) – A session focusingon private enterprises and business spirit was held in Jakarta capital city ofIndonesia on April 24, within the framework of the Asia-Pacific EconomicCooperation Business Advisory Council (ABAC) II Meeting.

The main agenda of the session was toencourage economic integration in the Asia-Pacific.

It discussed cooperation amid complicateddevelopments of the global economy, as well as recommendations of ABAC whichwill be submitted to leaders of the economies which are members of the Asia-PacificEconomic Cooperation (APEC) forum later this year.

Speaking at the opening session, Presidentof ABAC Indonesia Anindya N Bakrie stressed that the forum will benefitparticipating economies under various forms of cooperation, in both trade andinvestment.

He added that Indonesia boasts a hugeopportunity for the country’s development, by taking advantage of the role ofdigital economy in improving productivity and people’s livelihoods.

Meanwhile, Chairman of ABAC Papua NewGuinea Wayne Golding Obe said it is necessary to improve views on the privateeconomic sector and introduce in the national policy for business development.

The ABAC II Meeting is underway in Indonesiafrom April 23 to 26, drawing the participation of 150 business leaders from 21 APECmember economies.

Established in 1995 by APEC leaders, ABACholds its meetings four times a year to discuss and put forward recommendation.-VNA
