50th anniversary of Paris Peace Accords celebrated in Hanoi
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on January 17 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Paris Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam (Paris Peace Accords) (January 27, 1973-2023).

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of ForeignAffairs hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on January 17 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Paris Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace inVietnam (Paris Peace Accords) (January 27, 1973-2023).
Prominent among the participants was former VicePresident and former Foreign Minister Nguyen Thi Binh, who was head of the negotiationdelegation of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam atthe Paris Conference.
The Paris Agreement was the result of the longest and most difficultstruggle in the history of Vietnam's diplomacy, with over 202 public meetings heldover four years, eight months and 14 days.
In his remarks, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Sonrecalled the negotiations and signing of the accord five decades ago, whichtogether with previous ones like the Geneva Agreement in 1954, created apremise for the Vietnamese people to realise their aspirations for peace,national independence, national reunification and prosperous development.

Stressing the strategic significance of the ParisAgreement, the minister said the victory was the result of the indomitable struggleand the great sacrifice of the Vietnamese army and people on the political,military and diplomatic fronts under the sound leadership of the Party andPresident Ho Chi Minh.
Lessons drawn from the Paris Agreement negotiations,signing and implementation have maintained their values, even in the Party andthe State’s foreign policy during the present cause of reform, nationaldevelopment and defence, he continued.
The diplomatic sector, under the Party leadership,is resolved to grow in a more professional, comprehensive and modern fashion,contributing to realising the aspirations, visions and targets of developmentset at the 13th National Party Congress.

Speaking at the meeting, Binh called the ParisAgreement a victory decisive to the path towards the liberation of SouthVietnam and national reunification, saying it was the result of the nearly20-year struggle.
She also highlighted the solidarity and strongsupport from the international community, which, she said, gave strengths toVietnam both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.
Expressing her pride of the nation and the Party,Binh said she believes that under the sound leadership of the Party and goodnational traditions, Vietnam will develop more strongly and sustainably.
Hélène Luc, Honorary Senator and Honorary Presidentof the France-Vietnam Friendship Association, affirmed that her sentiments andhappiness in the signing day have remained intact./.
Counsellor at the Cuban Embassy Joi Puente has affirmed his country’s support for Vietnam under all circumstances, particularly the past Paris Agreement negotiations.
A postage stamp collection on the Paris Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam (Paris Peace Accords) is set to be issue on January 27, also the date on which the document was reached five decades ago.
The Party chief underscored the need for the press to innovate relentlessly, evolve to keep pace with the country's development, transform into a truly professional, humanistic, and modern sector that serves the cause of the Party, the State, and the people on the path to national construction and development.
The UN Secretary-General praised Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration in recent years, noting that the country has emerged as a model in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting international peace and security, and engaging in key UN processes.
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.
The Party and State of Vietnam always attach great importance to and give top priority to the development of Vietnam–China relations. Vietnam is ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.

The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
