3 trillion VND allocated for upgrade of Vinh airport

The Ministry of Transport has approved a project to upgrade Vinh airport in central Nghe An province with total investment of 3 trillion VND (about 128.5 million USD).

Nghe An (VNA) – The Ministry ofTransport has approved a project to upgrade Vinh airport in central Nghe Anprovince with total investment of 3 trillion VND (about 128.5 million USD). 

Accordingly, a second terminal (T2 terminal) willbe built at the airport, which is able to serve five million passengers peryear, along with an airport apron in front of the terminal.

Construction of the terminal and apron arescheduled to start in the third quarter of 2019 and be completed in late 2020.

In addition, many major projects are underway atthe airport, including one to upgrade a domestic terminal to an internationalone, and other to expand and repair existing aprons.

The upgrade ofthe airport aims to meet Nghe An’s socio-economic development requirements,particularly in tourism development.

The Vinh airport currently serves seven routesand handles about 34 flights a day, with two international air routes to Laosand Thailand. It recently showed signs of overloading, especially at peak time. 

By 2020, theairport is set to become a 4E-class international airport, which is able toreceive aircraft of E, D, C codes.-VNA
