15th NA election: Presidium of VFF Central Committee holds second consultative conference
The Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee held the second consultative conference on March 18 to reach agreement on a preliminary list of candidates nominated by central agencies for the upcoming election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Presidium ofthe Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee held the second consultativeconference on March 18 to reach agreement on a preliminary list of candidatesnominated by central agencies for the upcoming election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly.
In opening the conference, Tran ThanhMan, President of the VFF Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the NationalElection Council, noted that according to election regulations, consultativeconferences will be held three times to select worthy candidates for the electionin a democratic manner. The Presidium of the Vietnam FatherlandFront Central Committee held the first consultative conference on February 4,and the third one will be completed before 5pm April 19. After the first consultative conference,agencies, organisations and units held meetings to nominate candidates for theNA election, and to collect voters’ opinions on their nominees.

According to Man, by March 17 the VFF hadreceived dossiers of 205 nominated candidates, and preparations for theelection are going according to schedule and in compliance with regulations. At the conference, 100 percent of delegatesapproved the preliminary list of 205 candidates nominate by central agencies,organisations and units. As of March 17, the number of nominated candidatesnationwide stood at 1,161, which is 2.3 times the number of deputies to beelected to the NA. It is noteworthy that 24 provinces andcities reported 77 self-nominated candidates, including 30 in Hanoi, and 16 inHo Chi Minh City. The elections of deputies to the15th-tenure National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026tenure are scheduled to take place on May 23 ./.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee has agreed to nominate Politburo member and President of the VFF Central Committee Tran Thanh Man and member of the Party Central Committee and Vice President cum Secretary General of the VFF Central Committee Hau A Lenh as candidates for the upcoming election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly.
The first phase of supervision and inspection over the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels in the 2021-2026 term will be implemented from March 15 to April 13 with five inspection teams, each covering three provinces and centrally-run cities and one district in each locality.
