14th NA’s eighth session to open on October 21

The eighth session of the 14th National Assembly (NA) will open on October 21 and close on November 27, deputy head of the NA Office Nguyen Manh Hung told a press conference in Hanoi on October 18.

Hanoi (VNA) – The eighth session of the 14th National Assembly (NA) will open on October 21 and close on November 27, deputyhead of the NA Office Nguyen Manh Hung told a press conference in Hanoi onOctober 18.

Hung said the legislature will spend 17 days on making lawsand the rest on deciding socio-economic affairs, State budget, supervision andother important issues, including question-and-answer sessions.

Lawmakers are due to adopt the revised Labour Code, theamended Securities Law, the Library Law, the Law on Military Reserve Force, theamended Law on Self-Defence Forces, the Law on Immigration of Vietnamesecitizens, the law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Lawon Organisation of the Government and the Law on Local AdministrationOrganisation, and the law on amendments and supplements to several articles ofthe Law on Cadres and Civil Servants and the Law on Public Employees.

They will also adopt a resolution on dealing with tax debtsby insolvent taxpayers, and other resolutions.

Opinions will be given on the law on amendments andsupplements to several articles of the Law on Promulgation of Legal Documents, therevised Youth Law, the Law on Public-Private Partnerships, the Law on Dialogueand Reconciliation, the Law on amendments and supplements to several articlesof the Law on Judicial Expertise, the amended Investment Law and revisedEnterprise Law.

Legislators are scheduled to consider reports onsocio-economic performance and State budget 2019, plan for socio-economicdevelopment, State budget estimate and allocation for 2020 for Ha Tinh, QuangBinh and Tra Vinh provinces and Irish government’s non-refundable aid for especiallypoor provinces under the Programme 135, a feasibility report for the first stage ofLong Thanh international airport, a comprehensive plan on socio-economicdevelopment for ethnic minority and mountainous regions, among others.

They will also mull over working reports by the Chief Justiceof the Supreme People’s Court and the Prosecutor General of the SupremePeople’s Procuracy, and those by the Government on the fight against crimes andlegal violations, execution of sentences, and corruption during 2019.

The NA will listen to the Vietnam Fatherland Front CentralCommittee’s report on public feedback collection.

The NA Standing Committee will report the supervision overdealing with voters’ suggestions sent to the seventh session while the Governmentwill report external activities of the State for 2019.

The legislature will also decide on the personnel work andadopt the resolution of the session.
