14 former OVs injured in bus accident in Laos

A bus carrying 41 former overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Thailand and Laos skidded and overturned in Packsan town, Laos’ central province of Bolykhamsay, on May 23 morning, injuring 14 people.

Vientiane (VNA) – A bus carrying 41  former overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Thailandand Laos skidded and overturned in Packsan town, Laos’ central province ofBolykhamsay, on May 23 morning, injuring 14 people.

The accident occurred when the bus was trying toavoid a vehicle in the opposite direction amidst the bad weather condition.

The injured were rushed to the general hospital ofBolykhamsay province. Two of them are in serious condition.

This is one of the three buses with 123 former OVsin Thailand and Laos and their relatives on board returning to Vietnam from atrip to several relic sites in Thailand dedicated to late President Ho Chi Minh.

The May 17-23 trip was organised by the Vietnam-ThailandFriendship Association to mark the 128th birthday of the lateVietnamese leader (May 19).

After learning about the accident, representativesof the Vietnamese Consulate General in central Laos came to the hospital to visitthe victims and help them complete procedures to move to the general hospitalin Vinh city, Vietnam’s central province of Nghe An.

Other members of the delegation were transported tothe Paksan hotel in Bolykhamsay. They are scheduled to return home on late May23. -VNA
