13th National Party Congress convenes preparatory session

The preparatory session for the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam took place at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on January 25.

Hanoi (VNA) - The preparatory session for the13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam took placeat the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on January 25.

Prior to the session, delegates paid tribute to PresidentHo Chi Minh at his mausoleum. Members of the Politburo and the Party CentralCommittee’s Secretariat as well as head delegates then laid flowers and offeredincense to martyrs at the Monument for Heroic Martyrs.

Under the chair of Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburomember and Chairwoman of the National Assembly, the session approved its agendatogether with the congress’s working regulations, agenda, and voting rules.

A Presidium of the congress was elected with theparticipation of 17 members, including 16 Politburo members and Tran Thanh Man, Secretary of theParty Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front CentralCommittee, along with a five-member Secretary Group and a 13-member board fordelegate status verification.

Delegates passed a report verifying the status of delegatesto the 13th National Party Congress, which showed that all the 1,587delegates are eligible.
